Obviously if you were to choose something layered in batter, it's going to be less healthy than say crab and corn soup. It's all simply knowing what's good and what's bad for you, then you will be able to be healthy while enjoying a meal treat.

Hopefully here are a few tips for choosing the best and the worst items on the menu, all for a range of takeaways:

Fish and Chips: The worst items are chips, although you can really avoid having them, sausages, and pies. On the other hand, the best items are mainly fish, try and have code, haddock or plaice as these are the least fatty.

Pizza: The worst start would be to choose a deep pan pizza as the most fat is stored within the base. On the toppings side of things, try to avoid having extra cheese, whether it's a topping or a stuffed crust, and also avoid meats like pepperoni. If you're going for the healthy option, have a thing crust with either fish or vegetables on top.

Chinese: With this, try and avoid crispy and greasy items because it generally means they have been deep fried. The items that are worst for you are the sweet and sour battered meat balls, fried rice and finally spring rolls. As for the best items, it has to be steamed all the way. Items like crab and corn soup, beef, chicken, steamed vegetables, or boiled rice, all these are better for you.

Indian food, just like Chinese, you should try and keep away from deep fried things and items that are creamy as these will have the most fat. Vegetable curry, chicken tikka, madras or bhuna are your best items to choose for a healthier meal. The best thing to have with them would be boiled rice.

Hopefully you will reconsider your order next time you go to order your sweet and sour battered pork balls with chicken fried rice and spring rolls. As I wrote that, I was certainly shocked because I order all of the bad stuff, but I guess that's the way it is. The foods that taste the best are normally the worst for us.

A good takeaway can be ordered online quite easily and could for example be found using a search under 'takeaway Manchester' or 'Chinese Takeaway Liverpool' if that was your preference.
